Tanks, Wings & Wheels Father’s Day Weekend – Featuring American Elegance

NOTE: EVENT ADMISSION INCLUDES ADMISSION TO MUSEUM

A fantastic Father’s Day weekend event! Many of the American Heritage Museum’s astounding classic automobiles will be out in the sunshine in a grandiose automobile presentation at 1:00pm daily called American Elegance. Accompanying colorful vintage radio broadcast narration will be sure to entertain! Several other exhibitions and surprises will be afoot. Historic aircraft and tanks will be on display.

The American Heritage Museum will be open along with the two additional annex buildings on our campus: the AHM aircraft hangar and the AHM automobile collection. The hangar features 12 aircraft from 1909 to 1945 and a collection of Midget, Sprint, and Indy Cars. The automobile collection features over 25 rare automobiles from 1900 through 1946. These additional buildings on the American Heritage Museum campus are only open for special event weekends such as this one – all museum buildings and outdoor events are covered with this admission.

Event Schedule

9:00am – 5:00pm
Gates Open – All museum buildings open to visitors.

9:30am – 4:30pm
World War II Tank & Half Track Rides & Driving – Tank Driving Area
Tank Driving Experiences and Tank Rides aboard the M4 Sherman, M24 Chaffee, & M36 Jackson WWII tanks and WWII M3 Half Track will be taking place all day! Details on pricing available in the center of this program. Space is limited, so sign up ASAP! You can watch the operations all day from the viewing hills too!

War Gaming Demonstrations – Aircraft Hangar
Guides will be demonstrating tabletop strategy war gaming in the aircraft hangar through the day, explaining how games are played and how you can get a start in this unique hobby.

Paint-A-Tank – In Front of American Heritage Museum
For kids of all ages – come to the Paint-a-Tank tent in front of the museum to get a 3D printed tank to paint in the battle colors YOU choose! $5 donation per tank.

1:00pm – 2:00pm
American Elegance Auto Show – Pergola Gardens Near Automobile Barn
This fun presentation features a dozen rare and classic automobiles in a driving display modeled after a 1930’s Concours d’Elegance, complete with entertaining and educational commentary! Lawn seating is available in front of the Pergola Garden near the automobile barn.

3:00pm – 4:00pm (Sunday Only)
Speakers Series: Winged Heroes – American Heritage Museum
A captivating talk by WWII historical fiction author J.D. Keene about the book – Winged Heroes: How American Air Power led to victory in World War II, and helped shape the modern world.

5:00pm
All museum grounds and buildings close for the day.

Admission for the Saturday and Sunday events are as follows:
$30 Adults  |  $25 Seniors/Veterans  |  $20 Children Under 16
Members, WWII/Korean War Veterans and Children Under 3 are Free – No ticket required. Admission discounts can not be used for special event weekends.

Admission for AHM / CF Members

This is a Members Free Event Weekend:  one (1) free admission per day for Individual and Participating Members, two (2) free admissions per day for Dual Members, and two (2) adult and two (2) child free admissions per day for Family Members. No advance ticket purchase required, just bring your VALID membership card or recent membership receipt to the entry gate for proof. You may buy tickets online or at the gate for any additional people in your party.

Tank Driving Experiences and Tank Rides Available

Tank Driving experiences and Tank & Half Track Rides will be taking place over the weekend. You can register online, by phone, or on-site, but spaces are limited!

Tank Ride Experience Prices:

M36 Jackson (10 minute ride) – $195 per person – Maximum of five (5) riders per trip (four in turret, one in bow gunner position. Click here to book.

M24 Chaffee (10 minute ride) – $595 per group of Three (3) persons – two in the turret, one in the bow gunner position. Click here to book.

M4 Sherman (10 minute ride) – $595 per group of Two (2) persons – one in the turret, one in the bow gunner position. Click here to book.
