On this day in 1941, a PBY Catalina helped locate the German battleship Bismarck. Long-range patrol aircraft like the Catalina became essential eyes over the ocean in the Battle of the Atlantic. The American Heritage Museum is close to completing our epic restoration of a Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina that fought in the Battle of the Atlantic in 1942-1943. Speaker Series: How To Research WWII Veterans

Autumn Hendrickson, who has spent the last four and a half years working on a project to tell the stories of the men and women from Reading & North Reading, Massachusetts that served in World War II, comes to the American Heritage Museum to talk about her recent trip to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO.

She’ll take the time to talk about her research process and how other people can research their own WWII veteran of interest while incorporating some stories of men and women she’s researched.
