Speaker Series: Konz – A Legacy of Courage

September 19, 2025 @ 1:00 pm

Free with standard museum admission

Join us at the American Heritage Museum for a captivating talk by Tom Greeley about his Grandfather who was a Lt. Colonel stationed on Corregidor when we was captured by the Japanese on May 6th , 1942. His talk will focus on how his grandfather’s capture by the Japanese effected his family from the moment they were told to leave the Isle of Corregidor to living in Vermont. He will also talk about his Uncle Budgie and how he left his family farm in Barre to join the air core in Britain to fly B-17’s to help end the war to bring his brother in law home only to lose his life as well. This is about courage, sacrifice, and living with pain which no one discussed at that time. Tom’s family lived on and forged an amazing life despite their heartache. Growing up Tom had no idea as to what they endured.  Not until his grandmother wrote “Konz A Legacy of Courage” long after the war was over that he had a much better understanding of the horrors of war and what it does to the innocent families involved.
