Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina BuNo. 2459 rolled off the Consolidated production line only days after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and became one of the first five amphibious PBY-5A's accepted by the U.S. Navy on December 22, 1941. Assigned to VP-73 as aircraft number "9", it headed to Iceland and began patrolling the treacherous North Atlantic for German U-Boats as they waged a devastating war on shipping convoys supplying England and other Allied nations. Read the rest of the story of this incredibly historic aircraft including the 3.5 U-Boat victories it has to its record at the American Heritage Museum's website at: www.americanheritagemuseum.org/aircrafts/consolidated-pby-catalina/See the PBY-5A when it makes its first public appearance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh - July 20-26, 2026. Learn About Armor Scale Modeling: Minuteman AMPS Chapter Monthly Meeting & Build Day

February 21 @ 10:00 am, ending 3:00 pm

Free with standard museum admission

Join the Minuteman Chapter of the Armor Modeling and Preservation Society (AMPS) for a Monthly Meeting and Scale Model Build Day at the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, MA on the third Saturday of every month, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Watch skilled modelers as they work on their latest projects, learn more about the scale modeling hobby, and pick up tips on tools, painting, weathering, and detailing. You are also welcome to bring your own project and get hands-on help and advanced techniques from experienced club members.

The build day takes place right on the museum display floor, surrounded by world-class tanks, military vehicles, and aircraft, where history and craftsmanship come together.

The purpose of AMPS is to foster a knowledge and appreciation of the history of armored vehicles, through examination of preserved examples located in both museums and private collections, in miniature through modeling. The Minuteman Chapter of AMPS represents modelers in Central Massachusetts.
