One of our features tracked Cold War era vehicles for America’s Tank Demo Weekend on July 25-26, 2026 is the M88 Recovery Vehicle… more info on the event at the link in our bio or at: www.americanheritagemuseum.org/event/americas-tank-demo-weekend-july/ — The M88 Recovery Vehicle was developed in the late 1950s to provide the U.S. Army with a dedicated armored vehicle capable of recovering damaged tanks under combat conditions. Based on the chassis of the M48 Patton tank, the M88 entered service in 1961 and quickly became an essential part of armored formations. Equipped with a powerful winch, hydraulically operated A-frame boom, and front-mounted dozer blade, it could tow, lift, and repair disabled vehicles while protecting its crew from enemy fire. The M88 saw extensive service during the Vietnam War and has supported U.S. and allied forces in every major conflict since, including Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Continuous modernization led to the improved M88A1, M88A2 HERCULES (Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift and Evacuation System), and the latest M88A3, each designed to recover increasingly heavy main battle tanks. Today, the M88 remains one of the world’s most capable and widely used armored recovery vehicles. #m88 #tanks #tanklife #visitma #americanheritagemuseum ... See MoreSee Less

2025–2026 Annual Fund
Where America’s History Comes Home

Eighty years ago, millions of Americans came home from World War II. Their journey back was more than miles traveled—it was a passage from sacrifice to remembrance, from war to the peace their courage secured.

At the American Heritage Museum, we honor that homecoming every day.

Your gift to the 2025–2026 Annual Fund keeps this a place where stories of service come home—preserved, shared, and passed on to the next generation.

Why Your Gift Matters Now

As we mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and look ahead to the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, the need to preserve and teach the American story has never been more urgent.

The American Heritage Museum is more than a collection of tanks, aircraft, and artifacts. It is a living place of connection:

Where a family can stand before an M4 Sherman and remember a grandfather’s service.

Where a Gold Star family can find context and meaning in a cherished photograph.

Where an eighth-grader can place a hand on history and understand that freedom has a real weight—and a real cost.

Your generosity makes these moments possible.

What Your 2025–2026 Annual Fund Gift Supports

Hands-On Education for Students

You help bring students from across New England to the museum—funding field trips, interactive programs, and experiences that teach service, sacrifice, and citizenship in ways a textbook never can.

Immersive Exhibits & Powerful Storytelling

You expand exhibits that go beyond machines and dates to highlight the real people behind them—veterans, families, and home-front Americans whose stories deserve to be heard.

Living-History Weekends & Veteran Engagement

You fuel events where vehicles move, engines start, and veterans share their stories in person—turning “history” into a personal encounter with courage and responsibility.

Conservation & Restoration of Irreplaceable Artifacts

You safeguard combat-weary armor, historic aircraft, and rare artifacts through careful conservation and restoration, ensuring they will be here for future generations to learn from.

Your Support Keeps the Mission Alive

The American Heritage Museum is an independent, non-profit organization. We receive no guaranteed government operating support. We operate with modest staffing, dedicated volunteers, and careful stewardship—but the heart of our mission is you.

Your tax-deductible gift—whether $75, $150, $500, $1,000, or any meaningful amount—keeps the doors open, the lights on, and the stories alive for all who visit.

Learn About Smart Giving

Every gift, at every level, helps ensure that when a veteran walks through our doors, their experience finds a welcome; when a student visits, their questions find answers; and when our nation seeks perspective, it finds a faithful steward of its history.

Join the Homecoming

In 1945, communities gathered on platforms and piers, cheering in gratitude and relief as their loved ones returned. Eight decades later, that spirit of welcome and responsibility lives on here.

Please join us with your gift to the American Heritage Museum’s 2025–2026 Annual Fund and help keep this a place…
