Every year in early October we host an extraordinary WWII re-enactment at the AHM (Oct. 8th & 9th, 2022). There are over 350 Allied and Axis re-enactors who participate in "Battle for the Airfield." One of the most compelling presentations we host during this living history event is our WWII Veteran roundtable discussion. WWII veterans from all branches of service and rank come to talk about what they were doing during the war. We are looking for more WWII veterans to participate. Do you know an able WWII veteran who would like to join us? If so, please email Hunter Chaney at hchaney@collingsfoundation.org. ... See MoreSee Less

Tank Demonstration Weekend

May 21 @ 9:00 am - May 22 @ 5:00 pm

$15 – $25

A fantastic weekend where you can see some of the American Heritage Museum’s tanks including the M4 Sherman and M24 Chaffee and other privately owned military vehicles operating on our tank driving grounds behind the museum.

Special to this weekend – we will operate the M26A1 Pershing and M18 Hellcat. Captivating historical narration will bring these amazing machines to life. WWII veterans will be participating in the exhibition!

Gates open at 9:00am and close at 5:00pm each day. Tank driving demonstrations are ongoing through the entire day with at least 1-2 or more tanks driving on the operations grounds throughout the day. Some WWII re-enactor camps with displays will be set up.

All three museums will be open: The American Heritage Museum, The Historic Aviation Hangar and Classic Automobile Barn. This is a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s most rare aircraft, extraordinary American classic automobiles, historic tanks, armored vehicles, military artifacts and much more.

There is over 100,000 square feet of space within the American Heritage Museum and Hangar combined.

Food and beverage will be available for purchase on site and picnics are allowed.

**We will have photographer Jason Kennedy from Baystate Image here to take portrait shots of WWII veterans on Saturday, May 21, from 9 AM to 1 PM – at no cost! Please bring your Dad, Grandfather or Great Grandfather and capture his image for you to keep and pass on to your family. WWII Veteran admissions is free! We encourage you to bring your WWII veteran to be a part of our living history event and get a great picture while here.
