SUMMARY:Living History Presentation - Life as a Roman Soldier
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the American Heritage Museum for a unique presentation and demonstration from Legion III Cyrenaica\, a Roman Solider re-enactor group. \n \nLegion III Cyrenaica is a Roman living history organization with membership throughout the New England region.  The group researches\, reconstructs and presents this historical Legion as it may have appeared in Egypt during the 1st century period of the Roman Empire (primarily covering 40 – 80 AD/CE).  The Legion functioned primarily as a military police\, based outside Alexandria and manning road stations and watchtowers along the trade roads in the Koptos region. \nWhile the main focus of the group is in the arms\, armor and military functions of the Roman Legion\, the group also features non-citizen Auxiliary and non-military / civilian aspects. \n \nThe group has presented for many years with the Higgins Armory Museum (now part of Worcester Art Museum)\, to several area schools\, colleges\, universities\, classical studies and classical leagues\, and has collaborated with the Joukowsky Institute at Brown University and with notable Roman archaeologists and scholars.  Some members have also appeared on History Channel and other media productions.” \nThere will be two presentations on Saturday\, January 20th: 11:30 AM and again at 2:30 PM\, with demonstrations and interactions between presentations.
