Join us on Saturday and Sunday, May 15th & 16th, for a fantastic weekend where you can see some of the American Heritage Museum’s tanks operating in a series of unique demonstrations. These include the M4 Sherman, M24 Chaffee, and M10 Tank Destroyer. *Special to this weekend: debut of the only restored Panzer 1 in North America! Captivating historical narration will bring these amazing machines to life.
WWII veterans will be participating in the exhibition! Among the WWII veterans attending we hope to see Sherman tank gunner Alfred Consigli. Mr. Consigli was part of General Patton’s 774th “Black Cat” brigade. His recollections of tremendous tank battles through Europe will leave you breathless. He will come with an astounding portfolio of pictures showing the battle torn landscape the dangers his crew faced as they moved through Europe. Also attending we hope to see Mr. Bill Purple. Capt. Purple was a B-17 Flying Fortress lead pilot who flew with the 8th Air Force, 379th Bomb Group. Mr. Purple has captivating stories leading hundreds of bombers on perilous missions over Berlin. Keep in mind, with the guys being over 97 yrs. old, their schedule will remain flexible up to the weekend.
Re-enactors from the Colonial period, Revolutionary War, WWI and WWII will have encampments and demonstrations through the weekend. These include: the American Colonials (17th & 18th c.). They are doing a Colonial Militia time line: The Piscataqua Company, Benjamin Church’s Company, Harmon’s Snowshoe Company, Eames’ Rangers.
From WWI there will be the British Boarder Regiment and from WWII will be representation of the Navy’s Battleship USS Massachusetts BB-59. This is living history at its finest! Each re-enactor shares a wealth of information. Period encampments will be set up featuring the artifacts, weapons and tools of the time.
All three museums will be open: The American Heritage Museum, The Historic Aviation Hangar and Classic Automobile Barn. This is a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s most rare historic aircraft, extraordinary American classic automobiles, vintage sprint, midget and Indianapolis race cars, rare artifacts and much more.
Tank Driving Experiences and Tank Rides will be available in the M4 Sherman and M24 Chaffee through the weekend. This is amazing!
